Starting in March 1949, Jos served in the Luxembourgish Army for 12 months, then reenlisted in 1950 as a volunteer to the detachment for the Korean War. Overseas, Jos was charged with communication tasks and became the messenger to the leading officer corps around Lieutenant Jos Wagener and Sergent-Chef Gauthier Steffen.

On his personal wish, Jos was granted an extension of his service term after his return from Korea. Henceforth, he was assigned to the IInd Battalion until he tragically died in the passenger’s seat during a car accident on 25 September 1962 in Büderscheid (Goesdorf) at the young age of only 31 years.
He was married to Anne Feltz and father of seven children: Jean-Pierre, Annie, Susette, Michel, Raymond, Arlette and Juliette.

"Soldat remarquable. Sens de devoir très développé. Caractère un peu difficile, manque d’esprit de coopération."
