Mon cher Roger,

J’ai reçu ta dernière lettre le jour où nous sommes descendus de notre position à l’Imjin c.à.d. le 1er. Depuis lors nous avons assisté à une attaque de diversion du I Corps qui a démarré le 3. et qui s’est arrêtée le 7. au soir. Comme la saison des pluies a commencé nous ne manquons pas de distraction pour l’instant. Après un petit engagement physique nous sommes rentrés sain et sauf au cantonnement. En tout cas comme dernier « Sweep » au Nord de l’Imjin c’était bien. Je te remercie pour l’information au sujet des nominations et j’étais particulièrement fier d’apprendre la mienne. Les [1 mot] réglementaires sont parties avec le rapport mensuel du mois de janvier. Je m’excuse pour le délai du rapport mensuel du mois de juillet mais je n’ai pas encore pu disposer d’une journée calme pour m’en occuper sérieusement. Je te signale que six autres Luxembourgeois furent cités à l’orde du Btln. Une copie des citations sera jointe au prochain rapport mensuel. Il semble que nous partons de Fusan le 29. Je t’enverrai u telegramme avant notre départ. Au sujet de l’accident de Morgiel Michel je me demande si vous avez reçu mon rapport. Entretemps tu as sûrement reçu mon telegramme mentionnant les Luxembourgeois désireux de rengager. Quant à la formation d’un nouveau contingent pour la Corée je suis curieux de savoir quelques détails. Espérant que ces informations sont suffisantes pour le moment je termine ma lettre. Transmets mes repects aux supérieurs et le bonjour aux copains. Je ne suis pas loin de pouvoir vous donner un petit aperçu oral sur notre vie en Corée.

My dear Roger,

I received your last letter on the day we came down from our position at the Imjin, i.e. the 1st. Since then, we have seen a diversionary attack by I Corps which started on the 3rd and stopped on the evening of the 7th. As the rainy season has begun, we have no lack of distraction for the moment. After a small physical engagement, we returned safely to the billet. In any case as a last sweep north of the Imjin it was good. I thank you for the information about the appointments and I was particularly proud to learn of mine. The [1 word] regulations went out with the January monthly report. I apologise for the delay of the July monthly report, but I have not yet had a quiet day to deal with it seriously. I would like to inform you that six other Luxembourgers were cited in the Btln. A copy of the citations will be attached to the next monthly report. It seems that we leave Fusan on the 29th. I will send you a telegram before we leave. About the Morgiel Michel accident I wonder if you have received my report. In the meantime, you must have received my telegram mentioning the Luxembourgers wishing to re-enlist. As for the formation of a new contingent for Korea I am curious to know some details. I hope that this information is sufficient for the moment I am finishing my letter.
